Game schedule

We now have a tentative schedule for the upcoming season. It's posted to the right under "schedule."

Also posted are the tournaments we are scheduled to play in (game times TBD), GBA Opening Day, Picture Day and a few practice dates/times which may need to be used to make up a game or two. FYI - Our home field is South Street Field - North, so this is where these practices or potential games will take place.

Please note that there is a potential for several games to be cancelled or change locations due to weather (mostly early in the season), just like last year. Our Managers do an excellent job of getting information to us as soon as they receive it, but sometimes it is very last minute. Might be a good idea to get into the habit of checking e-mails as well as our website frequently for up-to-date information when such a conditional day arises. I will try to have directions posted in advance as well.

Spirit Wear for Travel

Hey everyone!

Have a wonderful Super Bowl Day!! Speaking of Super stuff, take a look at what Robin has for us and give her an order if you're interested. I think it would be awesome if we we all had one of these and wore them to the games to show our boys some good ole' Geneva support. I'm going to get one for each of us in the family. Do you think I could get Zoe to wear one? Place your orders ASAP so Robin can get the order in. Keep in mind that all the proceeds go to benefit GBA. Thanks All! - Sue

Message from Robin:

I am currently taking orders for the 2008 GBA Travel t-shirt. For those of you who are not familiar with the shirt, it is white and has the GBA logo on the front and all the travel team rosters listed on the back. The shirt is $15.00 and it comes in Youth S,M,L,XL and Adult S,M,L,XL,XXL. These are nice shirts for players, parents, grandparents, etc.

If you are interested, please contact me at rrtdmunoz@sbcglobal.net stating how many shirts and the sizes. When I deliver the shirts, I will need to collect a check made payable to Geneva Baseball Association.

Thanks -
Robin Munoz

Uniform Fitting

Our 11UBlue travel uniform fitting has been scheduled for Saturday, January 26, at 10:00am. I recommend that the boys wear shorts or something under sweats to the fitting as we will be in an open room.

This year all travel teams will be in the white pinstriped uniforms. There will be a new (this year) style undershirt to wear under the vest and a new style hat. They are both a wicking material, not a cotton 2 button tee like years past or the wool hat. Each player receives a new uniform each year supplied by GBA, which consist of 1 pant, 1 shirt, 1 vest, 1 hat, 1pr. socks, and 1 belt.

As the primary launderer in our household, here are my personal thoughts: It is very nice to have two shirts and two pants. Often we will have games one day following another and sometimes it's difficult to get the entire uniform cleaned in a less-than-24-hour timeframe. (I figured that the vest could go a couple of games before needing to be washed.) Extra blue socks are a definite plus, but those are the same from the past years.

Many of the boys had also purchased the cold weather undershirt (UnderArmour), as well as the blue pullover jacket - which has the last name stitched on. We did have some fairly cool games in April! All of these additional purchases are completely optional.

The bat bags are a one time purchase, and strongly recommended. The boys who were on a travel team last year should have that bag to use again. The undershirts, jackets and bat bags will be available for order at the fitting. Shoes are not provided. We will be told by Jim the when and where to purchase those again later this year.

If a player cannot make that time frame there are a few options:

1) Try to make a later fitting on this day. Hayden's will be there until 2:00.

2) Compare your player's size to another on our team, and guesstimate that you will need to get the same size as that player - be sure to give someone on our team a specific list of any additional purchases you will want! (Hmmm...that brings up a question of payment. Did we pay for the extras on the spot last year? Anyone who remembers, please reply-all. We can figure out payments if necessary.)

3) Hayden's is located in several places in Northern Illinois, I believe the closest is in Montgomery, so not real close. You can arrange for a fitting at their location.

One last note - Our very own Robin Munoz is THE go-to person for GBA apparel. She can hook us up with the latest trends in baseball fashion to support our team!! Let's all take advantage of that inside connection! : - }
